The trading floor and the vault are in the same building, a few steps apart. You can buy a coin, watch it go into your box, and hold the only key — in a single visit.
Tours are by appointment, and take about half an hour.
Questions
The things people actually ask.
Can anyone else open my box?
No. You hold the only key to your box, and any keyholder you nominate must be registered in person with photo ID. IBV does not hold a master key, and our staff do not know what is inside.
Can I sell bullion that is already in my box?
Yes. Bring it up to the trading floor in the same building, and we will weigh, test and price it. Payment is made the same day.
Can I see and handle my bullion?
Yes, whenever we are open. Private viewing suites are available for exactly this, and they are not covered by CCTV.
Do I have to store what I buy from you?
No. Storage is optional. You are welcome to take delivery, and equally welcome to store bullion you bought elsewhere.
Can I store things other than bullion?
Yes. The box is yours. Jewellery, watches, documents, hard drives and other valuables can sit alongside your metal.
What do I need to open a box?
Photo ID — a passport or driving licence — and proof of address dated within the last three months. Registration takes around fifteen minutes.
What happens if I lose my key?
Contact us immediately. We arrange locksmith assistance and cut a new key, subject to a lock replacement fee.
What if something happens to me?
Your nominated next of kin will be contacted, but they cannot access the box unless they have been appointed as an executor.
